Football security with cylinder lock from Mul-T-Lock

A Premier League football club in England needed a pick-resistant locking system throughout its stadium. The solution: Mul-T-Lock MT5.

A telescopic pin mechanism that resists attempts at picking is providing security at a football club in England’s West Midlands. The Mul-T-Lock MT5® patented cylinder system has been installed in all buildings atWest Bromwich Albion Football Club as part of the newly promoted Premier League club’s ongoing refurbishment program. This program will eventually encompass all stands, and the club was anxious to ensure high-security systems were installed to protect against lock manipulation.

The MT5® cylinder, using both the telescopic pin and also Alpha Spring, a new technology to increase key protection, provides enhanced key security and strong tamper resistance. Livens Locksmiths Ltd, an authorized Mul-T-Lock dealer, has already installed more than 100 MT5® cylinders at West Bromwich Albion, with more than 300 to be fitted by completion in 2012.

“We needed to make sure the site was as secure as possible both now and in the future,” says Mark Miles, head of facility operations and development at TheHawthorns, the club’s stadium. “Livens demonstrated the advantages of MT5®, and I was especially impressed with the flexibility of the master key system and its ability to incorporate all of our key access requirements. The MT5® system is now being installed in the remainder of the stadium, with minimum disruption to the football grounds’ operations.”

MT5® is the first cylinder in the UK to be supported by a unique key authorization magnetic strip card. To ensure tight control of key duplication, this card must be presented to a registered MT5® locksmith before any additional keys can be supplied.
