Camille Smith celebrates the challenges

Supported by a foundation of family, friends and faith, Camille Smith at ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions in New Haven Connecticut views every challenge as an opportunity.

Camille Smith is an accounting supervisor with ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions in New Haven, Connecticut, where she manages the company’s programs for credit cards, expense reporting and cars. Part of her job is to support hundreds of employees who send in a steady stream of emails and phone calls with questions or issues about the various programs. Maintaining a pleasant and positive disposition makes every task an enjoyable experience for her clients, her coworkers and herself. Her desire to please and spread cheer sums up the approach she takes to her personal life and professional career.

“Being helpful is just part of my nature, both at work and in my personal life,” Camille says. “And I like being able to be myself. I’m always eager to initiate positive change in the workplace. It comes with my job experience and I’m always up to the next challenge, even if it requires taking on more responsibilities.”

Greater responsibilities await outside of work, including a daughter in her final year of college, a son in his senior year of high school and another son entering high school. Camille has also re-enrolled in college after an eight-year hiatus to raise her kids.

“My true life is my children, family and friends,” she says. “They have me all over the spectrum of life, and I love those challenges too. I’ve come to realize that we never stop learning in life. There is always a challenge going on, and they all make life worth living.”
